SHAW HOUSE

Year: 2025

Services Rendered: Full-Service Design, Furniture Sourcing and Styling

Project Description: In the vibrant west end neighbourhood of Bloor-Dovercourt, this private residence was designed to capture light and evoke feelings of calm throughout the home, creating the perfect respite from the busy downtown West End of Toronto. The client valued sustainability and making conscious material choices, so our focus was utilizing vintage, found and post-consumer selections wherever possible, while still achieving a thoughtful and cohesive ambiance. Nearly all finishes, fixtures + furniture were sourced second hand or direct from the artisans who make them. A combination of bright and neutral earth tones helped dictate the materiality applied - a bright green remnant marble slab clads a stair landing resembling a mossy path, and vintage Murano glass light fixtures echo sunlight cast through water. A sandy hued kitchen countertop, a vintage ochre sofa and a repurposed marble topped dining table bring in the grounding tones of the earth. Varying wood tones and warm whites carried throughout the home act as the common thread weaving all of the elements together imbuing the space with quiet serenity.
